Inspired by the work of the L’OCCITANE Foundation in their continuous fight against avoidable blindness, L’OCCITANE South Africa has engaged in local partnerships since October 2015.Over Christmas 2017 L’OCCITANE has fundraised R 69 900 and donated a total of R 310 000 towards our new collaboration with CBM UK to support eye care for further 7 360 patients in South Africa. This project worth R 620 000 focuses on upskilling eye surgeons to improve surgical outcomes and quality for people at risk of avoidable blindness in under-served areas. The aim is to reduce morbidity from cataract and glaucoma through an innovative surgical training unit which will take place in CPT and result in improved practices by surgeons in our hospitals related to cataracts and glaucoma.
